BioMADE at the NDIA Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference & Exhibition
BioMADE is excited to be part of the Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference & Exhibition this August 27-29, 2025, in Washington D.C. Join Clem Fortman, National Security Development Fellow at BioMADE, on Thursday, August 28 in the Game-Changing Emerging Technologies session as he presents BioMADE: Pathways to Procurement for Industrial Biotechnology. See below for session details:
BioMADE: Pathways to Procurement for Industrial Biotechnology | Thursday, August 28 | 12:25 PM - 1:30 PM
BioMADE and its network of nearly 350 member organizations are innovating to solve the greatest challenges in domestic supply chains and national security. BioMADE is working to advance domestic bioindustrial manufacturing to develop new materials for the Department of Defense (DoD) to support fieldable capabilities. Since being established in 2020, BioMADE has worked with members to provide more than a dozen products to the DoD for test and evaluation. BioMADE’s members are working across a spectrum of DoD relevant applications, from specialized warfighter protection to lightweight materials to energetic precursors. New products from biology promise to improve Warfighter readiness, extend the range of a number of weapons systems, and protect the Warfighter in theater. Projects have brought biobased molecules from ideation to kilogram scale to demonstrate scale both as proof of concept and small-scale testing. Other projects have moved production from kilogram to ton-scale and are supplying DoD stakeholders with materials for the robust testing required to certify their products as procurement ready.
In April 2025, BioMADE announced the first two sites in its Pilot Plant Network (PPN): a demonstration-scale facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota and a pilot-scale facility in Hayward, California. These domestic facilities will enhance the speed and scale at which a biobased product can be developed, vetted, and commercialized for DoD applications.
Attend this presentation to hear how your office or organization can work with BioMADE and its members to develop biobased products to solve your mission critical problems.
