Dr. Clem Fortman, National Security Development Fellow at BioMADE, will host a series of short talks featuring Cambium, CleanJoule, and Soarce, that focus on how biomanufacturing is supporting key defense applications:
High‑temperature‑resistant composite materials that protect aviators from lithium‑ion battery fires, lighten mortar tubes and weapons barrels, and support the development of hypersonic weapons;
Laser eye protection to protect Warfighters from eye damage while maintaining the ability to distinguish colors;
High-performance aviation fuel to extend the range of a number of weapons systems;
Updated deconstruction technology to provide a consistent supply of cellulose from a wide array of domestic agricultural products for the manufacture of energetic materials.
