Now Hiring: Senior Budget Analyst

BioMADE is seeking a Senior Budget Analyst to support the finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Sr. Budget Analyst will work independently supporting budget development, tracking, revisions and projections; month-end and year-end close activities, report development; revenue/expenditure analysis; government reporting; and non-profit 501(C)(6) and 501(C)(3) organizational compliance reporting. BioMADE operates in a complex budget and compliance environment with a funding portfolio that includes federal, state, and private financial support, significant and complex cost share, and membership dues. BioMADE’s primary cooperative agreement is an award from the US Department of Defense, operates under 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and makes significant funding awards to its partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized and technical work assisting in the development, maintenance, and analysis of complex budgets and tracking, including, but not limited to, preparation and distribution of funding allocations, development of budget revisions, report compilation, and budget analysis.

  • Analyze financial information for the purpose of identifying budget variances, compiling statistical information, responding to government inquiries and conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Compile statistical and financial data from a wide variety for the purpose of developing budget recommendations; providing summaries to meet organization needs; and/or ensuring compliance.

  • Follow processes to ensure that financial activity meets all audit and reporting requirements, including as a “major nonprofit organization” as defined in 2 CFR 200 and as a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization.

  • Facilitate creation of BioMADE budget proposals working closely with Project Managers to ensure compliance with agency and regulatory requirements. Review and approve project budgets for accuracy before contract execution.

  • Support bi-annual and ad-hoc government financial reporting.

  • Provide support in annual audit through reporting and data compilation.

  • Develop and run standard and customized financial reports to meet organizational needs including those for budget, expenditures, trends and cost share.

  • Prepare monthly organizational financial statements.

  • On a monthly basis, meet with budget managers to review status and address issues.

  • Monitor budget expenditures and notify Director of potential issues and variances.

  • Prepare ad-hoc statistical and analytical reports to meet organizational needs.

  • Support month end-close activities such as bank statement reconciliation, revenue recognition, and indirect cost reconciliation.

  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.

  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

  • Other duties as assigned.
