Regional Partnerships for Training the Biomanufacturing Workforce in Worcester, MA from BioBuilder
BioBuilder is enabling the regional coordination of a biotechnology and biomanufacturing-focused training pipeline for high school students in Worcester, MA with an industry-responsive biomanufacturing curriculum for high school students, defining the way students can further their education through certificate and credentialing programs, and building relationships with the local life science industries for work-based learning opportunities.

In this webinar, Dr. Natalie Kuldell, Founder and Executive Director of BioBuilder Educational Foundation, will describe BioBuilder's approach to curriculum development in Worcester and elsewhere, as well as touch on some surprises and challenges faced by this high school certificate program.

Bioreactor Education, Setup, and Training from University of Georgia

The University of Georgia is building a bioreactor from off-the-shelf parts as well as developing a “souped up” shake flask using equipment from Scientific Bioprocessing, including their Cell Growth Quantifier and Liquid Injection system. This project is also developing training materials for upstream processing and hosting workshops and other events with a “train the trainer” model. Researchers have connected all the necessary parts for the bioreactor system including motor, pumps, sensors, off-gas analyzer and mass flow controllers. They are currently working on temperature control and building 3D printable parts. Attend this webinar to hear about methods developed so far such as the blueprint for building the bioreactors and SOPs for operation as well as the Scientific Bioprocessing equipment SOPs.

Thursday, December 15 | 12:00 – 1:00 CT | 10:00 – 11:00 PT

Launching High School Bioengineers on their Paths to College and Careers from BioBuilder

Authentic scientific experiences spark engagement. This BioMADE project is supporting a biomanufacturing track within the BioBuilderClub program – allowing high school students throughout the country to carry out meaningful research with industry-grade reagents and tools from Daicel Arbor, and then publish their work in a peer reviewed journal for high school synthetic biologists. The BioBuilderClub program operates similarly to iGEM but on a time scale that aligns with U.S. secondary schools and at a price point of ~$50/student. BioBuilder's founder and executive director, Dr. Natalie Kuldell, will describe the coordinate effort between BioBuilder, ETSU, Ars BioTechnica and Daicel Arbor that is building momentum for biotechnology and biomanufacturing careers nationwide, including in the hard-to-reach rural and inner-city schools.

Building BioMADE Awareness: The STEMconnector Ecosystem Approach from STEMconnector

STEMConnector’s webinar will cover key findings from their environmental scan and workforce gap analysis tool to help bring to life the challenges and opportunities in the industry, as well as introducing their ebook that explores the biomanufacturing industry and the career opportunities within. Join to hear what's to come over the next few months and how you can participate.
