Project MONDE

Members: Amyris, Sudhin Biopharma

Year launched: 2023

This project will evaluate a modification to both the design and operation of an aseptic production fermentor in order to minimize or eliminate the inhibitory impact of certain recombinant products. This is unique because the process approach and fermentation design will be demonstrated at the pilot plant scale. This research will be used to create confidence in the scalability of process and fermentation design technology including internal and external settling devices for some of these microorganism-inhibitory products. Improved transparency on the projected implementation costs will enable better visibility into the magnitude of improved economics for new classes of biomolecules for fuels, commodities, food and beverage, and personal care applications.
